Case Studies
The Beyond Search team worked on the Seed2020 social networking event held in Louisville, Kentucky, on November 4, 2009. The project was designed to weave together several different social networking methods into a unified campaign. The team developed a sequence of activities. The anchor point was the Seed2020 Web site. The site incorporates static information, news, forms, and reference material. In addition, the Beyond Search team (working with the engineers from ArnoldIT.com) developed automated methods to create a Seed2020 presence in Twitter and Facebook. Other communication techniques used in the Seed2020 project included a traditional news release and supporting articles from Beyond Search partners; for example, Intellas.com, a technology services Web site. The result leas a resounding success. For more information about Seed2020.com click here.

How to Videos
The Beyond Search team created a series of six videos and promoted these via social media. Each video explains how a person or business can make money by "surfing on Google." The idea is that Google offers a number of opportunities to generate revenues by specializing in Google technologies, products, and services. The Beyond Search team combined blog articles, automated Twitter messages, and a traditional news release to make this promotion a winner.
Sharing Knowledge
Stephen E Arnold was an invited speaker at the Gov 2.5 social media conference held in Washington, DC, in December 2009. His topic was Google's social media initiatives. Google had a false start with its Orkut.com service and has been working overtime to close the gap in social media. In this talk, Mr. Arnold described push into real-time indexing of social media content and other likely activities.
Social Media Planning
In December 2009, the SSN team prepared a social media networking plan for a publisher of regional business information. The components of the plan focused on well-known methods such as a blog. What set this plan apart from other social media programs known to the company was the SSN concept of orchestration. A single social media activity is an island in an ocean of bits. The orchestration method, developed by the SSN team, uses specific actions to build the community for the company.
